The youth breaks down the stereotypes
According to the results of the sociological researches of identity of the citizens of Ukraine by the Razumkov Centre, we can state the presence of the essential regional and local differences as for the identity and vision of the future. The situation like that blocks the consolidation and the unity of the nation in its attitude to the problems arisen, choice as for the future of Ukraine etc.
Answering the question “Is there a threat of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial unity?”, 56,5 per cent of the respondents said “YES”. Less than a half out of these respondents is sure that the way out is in European Integration and joining NATO. Another, bigger part sees the biggest threat in the Euro-Atlantic integration and joining NATO in particular. The main stereotype that appeared to cause a stereotype like that among particular segment of the citizens is the conviction of people that NATO is aggressive military force. That is why in 2008 the Ukrainian Youth SOBOR held the informative-educational project in order to bring up the young generation free of stereotypes and responsible for their decisions.

The movement of the student resistance

The Movement of the student resistance (MSR) is the civil initiative, which was started by the Ukrainian Youth Platform, and chases as a goal the creation of the mechanism of protection of student rights in all the regions of Ukraine in context of political and non-political pressure by the representatives of the educational institutions, state government institutions and law-enforcement agencies.
The MSR has created the special offices in all the regional centers of Ukraine, in Kiev and Sevastopol, which provide the needed information for the students, involve the members of Parliament and local council members, coordinate specialists in law, as soon as the students in need address the MSR with the request of help or assistance.

Leading experts on foreign policy and security - former Deputy Secretary of State of the USA and President of the Brookings Institution Strobe Talbott and former High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union (1999-2009) and Secretary General of NATO (1995-1999) Javier Solana – visited Kyiv on 31 March 2010. These leading international policy makers participated in public debates organized by the Yalta European Strategy (YES) and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
Anna Zakletska-Burak, the Vice-President of the Ukrainian Youth SOBOR in charge of the external relations, represented the organization on the annual “Young Leaders Meeting”, held on the 15th – 18th of October in Aachen, Germany.
On the 30th of March pupils of Kiev school №2 launched into the space almost 200 smiles. The school children drew their smiles on the multicolored balloons and set them free synchronously after the call “One, two, three, set your smile free!”. The action, organized by the Kiev City Organization of the Ukrainian Youth SOBOR got the name “The Express of Smiles”.
The UYS presidium member Dmytro Masliak was elected as an attorney of the Youth Sobor for external relations. The relevant resolution was passed by the organizations presidium. Therefore now Dmytro Masliak is obliged to establish and supervise relations with international organizations and funds and to reinforce interaction with them.
On Friday, February 13, in the Museum of the Ukrainian folk decorative art (in the territory of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra) there took place a theatricalized fashion show The Feast is Coming! The collection included 24 stylized clothes with bright ethnic elements and futuristic trends reminding the creative works of Maria Pryimachenko. All works were prepared by the students of M. Boychuk State Institute of Decorative Applied Arts and Design of Kyiv. «The clothes created by these students deserves being presented at the fashion weeks. It is remarkable for its expressed ethnic motives combine with modern femininity», says the production director of this show, scriptwriter Anna Zakletska.
